THEME OF THE PROJECT

My Very First Business

Purpose

By the end of this project, the students will be able to:

Identify factors influencing buying decisions
Identify sources of information about product and supplier
Identify target customers
Select business strategies applicable to specific customer groups
Describe elements of organizational structure
Identify costs and revenues of a business
Identify branding elements
Create own branding elements

1ST STAGE OF THE PROJECT

Product Review



Students gather and share information about real life products on review websites and suppliers’ web pages.

2ND STAGE OF THE PROJECT

Essential Questions of Business



During weeks 5-8, students complete a collaborative document with their ideas about marketing strategies and sales channels applicable to different goods and services as well as target customers. At the end of week 8, each student selects one good or a service from the list provided and submits a brief description of its target audience and applicable sales strategies.

3RD STAGE OF THE PROJECT

Business plan



Each student writes a post on a discussion board with a short business plan consisting of four parts:

Overview
Expenses
Organization
Growth strategy


Then all students review each other’s business plans, pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of peers’ plans.

4TH STAGE OF THE PROJECT

Branding



On the first stage of this project (week 13), the students gather a collection of company logos, mottos, and other branding elements.

On the second stage of this project (weeks 14-16), individual students create branding elements for own made-up businesses and incorporate them into the business plan.
